    The 28th International casablanca Fair is being held in Morocco. The Soviet Union is exhibiting for the first time. Along with thirty-two other countries, it is showing off its industrial, commercial, cultural and agricultural products.

    SYNOPSIS: Seventeen European nations are taking part in this year's fair along with Middle-Eastern nations and, China, India and Japan. The International Fair designed to improve trade was formally opened on Thursday (26 April).

    Venues have been carefully decorated by selected Arts groups and musical and dramatic performances will continue throughout the fair.

    The heir to the Moroccan throne, Crown Prince, Sidi Mohamed was guest of honour on the opening day of the fair. His arrival attracted a large crowd.

    Elaborate international pavilions are a special attraction at this year's fair. The Chinese exhibit covers one thousand square metres and features agricultural, industrial and cultural displays. The United States of America is showing off its technological advance in electronics and telecommunications.

    A number of Arab countries including Jordan are taking an active role in the fair. These women from Mauritania are wearing their traditional costumes.

    A series of seminars are being held during the fair on topics such as international communications, national economic plans and small and medium scale business development.

    A strong cultural theme has been evident at this year's fair. Almost every nation taking part has mounted comprehensive displays of their arts and crafts.
