  • Description

HEAVY SNOWFALLS UP TO FIVE FEET DEEP HIT MANY PARTS OF THE AUSTRIAN TYROL BEFORE CHRISTMAS. AFTER THE INITIAL PROBLEMS OF BROKEN COMMUNICATIONS, WINTER SPORTS BEGAN IN EARNEST -- WEEKS EARLIER THAN NORMAL.

AT THE FAMOUS WINTER HEALTH RESORT AND WINTER SPORTS VILLAGE OF SEEFELD, CONDITIONS WERE PERFECT, WITH CLEAR BLUE SKIES AND SUNSHINE. THE BEGINNER'S SLOPES WERE COVERED WITH TEAMS OF SKIERS, NEW TO THE SPORT, WHILE ON THE SLOPES OF THE 6,000-FEET SEEFELD JOCH, MORE EXPERIENCED SKIERS FOUND IDEAL CONDITIONS.

VISITORS ARRIVING FOR THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY WERE MET BY HORSE DRAWN SLEIGHS, WHICH DROVE THEM TO THEIR HOTELS PAST TYPICAL TYROLEAN HOUSES IN THE BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE. NOT ONLY SKIING, BUT A LOCAL VERSION OF ICE CURLING AND CLIMBING ARE AMONGST OTHER ATTRACTIONS AVAILABLE IN THE AREA.
