  • Description

A badminton team from The People's Republic of China arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, on Friday (26 July) for a series of exhibition matches.

The 14-strong party consists of none players and five officials. The Chinese will play matches in Nairobi, Mombassa and Kisumu.

However, these exhibition matches are considered the minor reason for the visit. The Chinese have indicated they are anxious to spend as much time as possible conducting coaching clinics for schoolchildren.

Arrangements have been made for the visitors, considered the world's top badminton players, to conduct coaching clinics in secondary schools throughout Kenya.

The Chinese will hold the first of their exhibition matches at Nairobi's Premier Club on Monday (29 July). Although some of the matches will feature Chinese players only, local start will get their chance to clash with the world champions in other matches. The programme includes men's singles, men's doubles, mixed doubles and ladies singles.
