One news agency report described the Soviet squadron's call as 'unusual'. Mr Brezhnev, meanwhile, left the same day for Budapest and Sofia after his four-day visit for talks with President Tito.

    SYNOPSIS: A squadron of ships from the Soviet Black Sea fleet left the north Yugoslav port of Rijeka on Saturday after a five-day call which coincided with the visit to Yugoslavia of Soviet Party leader Leonid Brezhnev. A news agency report described the squadron's visit as 'unusual'. Mr Brezhnev, meanwhile, also left on Saturday for visits to Hungary and Bulgaria after four days of talks with President Tito. During his visit he urged Yugoslavia to 'harmonise' its policies with the rest of the Soviet bloc.

    Rijeka, which has also been visited in the past by United States warships, is strategically situated at the northern end of the Adriatic sea.
