    PRESIDENT WILLIAM V.S. TUBMAN OF LIBERIA LEFT LIVERPOOL ON ENGLAND'S NORTH-WEST COAST TODAY (FRIDAY) TO RETURN HOME BY SEA. THE PRESIDENT WAS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS WIFE, OTHER MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY, AND ABOUT 20 AIDES AND OFFICIALS WHO ARRIVED IN LONDON WITH HIM DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE.

    A GROUP OF LIBERIAN OFFICIALS, INCLUDING CABINET MINISTERS AND FRIENDS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO HAD JOINED PRESIDENT TUBMAN IN LONDON FOR TALKS AND CONSULTATIONS, ACCOMPANIED HIM TO THE PASSENGER VESSEL "APAPA".

    HE SHOOK HANDS WITH THE CAPTAIN, J.W. HUTCHINSON, AND WAS GIVEN SOME BOOKLETS ABOUT LIVERPOOL BY THE CITY'S LADY MAYORESS.

    DURING THE SIX WEEKS PRESIDENT TUBMAN SPENT IN ENGLAND, HE HAD A THOROUGH MEDICAL CHECK-UP AT A LONDON CLINIC AND WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH BY A GROUP OF LONDON SPECIALISTS. HE ALSO HAD A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE AND WORKED UP TO 10 HOURS A DAY FROM HIS SUITE AT A LONDON HOTEL DEALING WITH THE AFFAIRS OF STATE, SEEING LIBERIAN MINISTERS AND AMBASSADORS, AND RECEIVING REPRESENTATIVES OF FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS AND BUSINESSMEN FROM MANY COUNTRIES.

    MR JOHN RANCY, PRESIDENT TUBMAN'S PRESS SECRETARY SAID THAT DURING HIS STAY IN LONDON THE LIBERIAN PRESIDENT NEGOTIATED IMPORTANT MINING AGREEMENTS WITH FOREIGN COMPANIES, INCLUDING ONE FOR THE EXPLORATION OF GOLD DEPOSITS, AND CONDUCTED LIBERIA'S EFFORTS TO MEDIATE IN THE DISPUTE BETWEEN GUINEA AND THE IVORY COAST.

    WHILE IN LONDON PRESIDENT TUBMAN LAUNCHED WITH QUEEN ELIZABETH AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE AND VISITED MR HAROLD WILSON, THE PRIME MINISTER, AT 10 DOWNING STREET.
