    JIM CLARK BRITAIN'S WORLD CHAMPION RACING DRIVER, TODAY (SUNDAY) WON THE DUTCH GRAND PRIX AT ZANDVOORT. HE LED FROM START TO FINISH IN HIS LOTUS TO COMPLETE THE 220 MILES (355 KMS) RACE IN TWO HOURS 35 POINT 4 SECONDS AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 98 POINT 01 MILES AN HOUR (157 POINT 743 KMH).

    HIS VICTORY GAINED HIM NINE POINTS IN THE 1964 WORLD DRIVERS' CHAMPIONSHIP, AND HE IS NOW ON LEVEL TERMS WITH GRAHAM HILL, WHO FINISHED FOURTH IN TODAY'S EVENT.

    THE DUTCH GRAND PRIX WAS THE SECOND EVENT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES. GRAHAM HILL WON THE OPENING EVENT, THE MONACO GRAND PRIX, WITH CLARK FOURTH AFTER FAILING OIL PRESSURE STOPPED HIM NEAR THE FINISH.

    BRITAIN'S JOHN SURTEES FINISHED SECOND IN THE NEW FERRARI V-8, 55 SECONDS BEHIND CLARK, WHILE PETER ARUNDELL, OF BRITAIN, ALSO DRIVING A LOTUS CAME THIRD ONE LAP BEHIND CLARK.

    CLARK ALSO HAD THE FASTEST LAP DURING THE 80 CIRCUITS OF THE COURSE, SET AMONG DUNES NEAR THE NORTH SEA. HE CLOCKED ONE MINUTE 32 POINT 8 SECONDS FOR THE 2 POINT 6 MILE (4,193 METRE) CIRCUIT AT AN AVERAGE SPEED OF 101 POINT 07 MILES AN HOUR (162 POINT 66 KMH).
