    SIX COUNTRIES TOOK PART IN THE OPENING OF THE SECOND SUB-REGIONAL MEETING ON ECONOMIC COOPERATION IN CENTRAL AFRICA.

    ORGANISED BY THE UNITED NATIONS ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR AFRICA (ECA) THE NINE COUNTRIES IN THE SUB REGIONAL GROUPING ARE CAMEROUN, CHAD, GABON, CONGO KINSHASA, RWANDA, BURUNDI, EQUATORIAL GUINEA, CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC, AND CONGO BRAZZAVILLE. THE LAST THREE DID NOT ATTEND THE OPENING SESSION.

    M. THOMAS LUANGO. CONGO KINSHASA'S MINISTER OF NATIONAL ECONOMY, WHO CHAIRED THE SESSION, REGRETTED THE LACK OF PROGRESS SINCE THE GROUP'S LAST MEETING THREE YEARS AGO.

    AT THE END OF THE THREE-DAY MEETING IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT A CLOSER STUDY BE MADE OF THE SUB REGION'S AGRICULTURAL POTENTIAL THE THIRD MEETING WILL BE HELD NEXT MARCH AND CAMEROUN, REPRESENTED BY ITS FOREIGN MINISTER, M. SIMON NKO'O ETOUNGOU, PROPOSED THAT IT SHOULD BE HELD IN YAOUNDE.
