    British Foreign Secretary James Callaghan arrived in Gabarone, the capital of Botswana, of Friday (3 January) on the second leg of his tour of Africa to sound out the possibilities of ending Rhodesia's constitutional dispute.

    Mr. Callaghan spent about 22 hours in Botswana and held talks with President Seretse Khama, one of the prime movers in current effort aimed at increasing the political role of Africans in white-ruled Rhodesia.

    The British Foreign Secretary left Gabarone on Saturday (4 January) for South Africa for talks with Prime Minister John Vorster.

    He announced his decision to visit South Africa shortly said that he wanted to obtain a first-hand account of the South African Government's attitude.
