    EUROPEAN CHAMPION DAVID BROOME, OF BRITAIN, WHO RODE THREE HORSES IN THE COMPETITION, SCORED A CLEAR FIRST ROUND ON "DISCUTIDO". CLEAR ROUNDS WERE ALSO RIDDEN BY CAROL BEARD ON "MAYFLY", BRAZILIAN N. PESSOA ON "GRAN GESTE", AND D. KENT OF BRITAIN ON "ROYAL COMMAND". ALFRED SCHOCKEMOHLE OF GERMANY HAD FOUR FAULTS ON "FREIHERR".

    IN THE FIRST JUMP-OFF, MISS BEARD AND MR. BROOME WERE AGAIN FAULTLESS. IN THE SECOND JUMP-OFF AGAINST THE CLOCK BOTH HAD FOUR FAULTS, BUT MISS BEARD FINISHED IN 36.8 SECS, WHILE MR. BROOME NEEDED 37.5 SECS.
