    THE FOUR PRESIDENTS ISSUED THE APPEAL LAST NIGHT (SATURDAY) AFTER A FULL DAY'S DISCUSSIONS ON THE NIGERIAN POLITICAL CRISIS. THEY ALSO DISCUSSED DEVELOPMENTS IN CONGO-KINSHASA.

    IN THE COMMUNIQUE ON THEIR MEETINGS, THE FOUR HEADS OF STATE AGREED THAT THE SITUATION IN NIGERIA WAS "HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE AND HAS SERIOUS IMPLICATIONS NOT ONLY TO NIGERIA BUT ALSO THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA AND THE WORLD AS A WHOLE." BUT THE PRESIDENTS REGARDED THE CRISIS AS ESSENTIALLY ONE FOR NIGERIA TO SOLVE. THE COMMUNIQUE STRESSED THAT THE FOUR LEADERS HAD NO INTENTION OF INTERFERING IN HER INTERNAL AFFAIRS.
