  • Description

An explosion -- treated by the Israeli authorities as sabotage -- severely damaged a house in the co-operative village of Dishon near Israel's border with Lebanon yesterday (Monday). The family occupying the house, including several children, escaped without injury.

It was the second time that the family had been hit by disaster. Three years ago, their eldest son was killed by a mine placed at the side of Dishon football pitch while he was watching a game of soccer.

The explosion followed six weeks of calm along the Israeli-Lebanese border. The sabotage attempt was attributed to Arab commandoes crossing into Israel from Lebanon.

The blast preceded reports of fierce fighting to the south between Israeli forces and Arab commandoes in the Jordan Valley.
