  • Description

Britain's Foreign Secretary Sir Alec Douglas-Home returned by RAF aircraft to London on Thursday (25 November), after the successful conclusion of negotiations in Salisbury aimed at ending the six-year-old Rhodesian Independence dispute.

Later in the House of Commons he outlined a 12-point plan which he had agreed with Rhodesian leader Mr. Smith, claiming it was fully in accordance with the 'five principles' defined by the British side during the protracted search for end to the dispute.

He also said the settlement would have to satisfy a Commission appointed by Britain to assess the views of all Rhodesia's racial groups.
