The Leader of the Australia Opposition, Mr. Bill Snedden, launched his party's election campaign on Tuesday (30 April) with a call to the Australian people to beat inflation by defeating the Labour Government and returning the country to its "true course". The election will be held on 18 May. Seven hundred people packed a hall in the Sydney suburb of North Rocks to hear Mr. Snedden outline his party's platform. The economy was made the central point of the speech. Mr. Snedden said inflation, running at I per cent, had been caused by the Labour Government and the Liberal-Country Party coalition would take moves to control the problem.
