    In the Philippines, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development -- UNCTAD -- is continuing with discussions on the position of Third World nations in relation to the developed countries. Various developing states have accused the rich countries of exploitation and protectionism -- and trans-national business corporations have also been criticised. However, one Monday (14 May) Norway pledged twenty two million U.S. dollars to a new fund to help Third World countries develop their commodity interests.

    SYNOPSIS: Last week (11 May), United States Ambassador to the United nations Andrew Young arrived in Manila with his wife to attend the conference. The main theme of his speech was the economic responsibilities of the developed nations. but first he high-lighted the variations in world cultures and economies.

    Mr. Young's economic message was precisely defined.
