    At Buckingham Palace today (tuesday) Lance Corporal Rambahadur Limbu of the 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles received his Victoria Cross from Queen Elizabeth.

    He is the first man to win the V.C. since 1953.

    Lance Corporal Rambahadur (Limbu is his clan name) won the V.C. for his bravery in Sarawak last November when, under heavy machine-gun fire, he brought two wounded colleagues back to safety.

    Corporal Rambahadur is twenty-six and has been a Gurkha soldier for nine years. He speaks no English.

    Within at the Palace today was his five year old son who was flown out from Nepal specially for the ceremony.

    There were three other medal winners at the Palace today - Captain Christopher Maunsell, commanding officer of the Gurkha unit, Captain Johnson and Lieutenant Rai, all of whom received Military Crosses.
