Dr. Robert S.Bilsheimer, American Director of World Council of Churches Division of Studies, in South?
Dr. Robert S.Bilsheimer, American Director of World Council of Churches Division of Studies, in South Africa for two weeks, flew to Cape Town from Johannesburg - where he had been conferring with high Afrikaans church dignitaries - Apr 21, third day of his visit; he was met at the Airport by Reverend W.A. Landman, chief information officer of the Dutch Reformed Church, and the Reverend A.J. van der Merve, Moderator of the Cape Province Synod of the Church.
Dr. Bilsheimer said his visit had been planned long ago, and his arrival at this precise time was co-incidental. However, he agreed that race relations in Churches is his main interest. While in South Africa he will confer with eight member-Churches of the World Council; he said that his conferring first with Afrikaans Church representatives had no significance, being merely "a matter of geography." While in South Africa he would investigate the possibility of a World Council mission being sent to the Union to study the racial situation.
After his tour in South Africa, Dr. Bilsheimer will fly north to other territories, including Nigeria.
