Background: In Abidjan on Monday (11 November), Ivory Coast Minister for Spors, Mr. Etienne Ahin, was presented with a gift of sporting equipment from the Taiwanese Government.
The presentation was made by the Taiwanese Ambassador in Abidjan, Mr. Tcheng-Kao Bernard Joei, who described international sport as a meeting ground for the youth of all nations.
In reply, the Ivory Coast Minister said that the gift was a further example of the friendship and co-operation between his country and Taiwan.
Earlier in the month, agreements were signed in Abidjan under which Taiwan will continue to supply agricultural aid and technical assistance to Ivory Coast.
SYNOPSIS: The Taiwan national baseball team is due to visit Ivory Coast in the near future. The Taiwanese ambassador said both governments hoped that this would be the first of many such sporting exchanges between their two counting exchanges between their two countries. He described the gift of equipment as a further indication to Taiwan's desire to assist the development of the Ivory Coast.
