    THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER IN MALAWI, MR. T.S. TULL, RECENTLY VISITED THE MPEMBA BOYS HOME IN BLANTYRE. THE BOYS PUT ON AN IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY FOR THE VISITING HIGH COMMISSIONER, AND HE PRESENTED THE SCHOOL WITH 16MM FILM PROJECTOR AND ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT. THE MALAWI MINISTER OF LABOUR, MR. A.B.J. CHIWANDA, WAS ON HAND TO RECEIVE THE PROJECTOR ON BEHALF OF THE SCHOOL.

    MR. TULL SAID THAT HE HOPED THE GIFT HE WAS PRESENTING ON BEHALF OF THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT WOULD HELP THE BOYS WIDEN THEIR HORIZONS SO THAT THEY COULD HELP MALAWI PLAY ITS PART IN THE WORLD TOMORROW.

    THE MINISTER THANKED MR. TULL FOR THE GIFT ON BEHALF OF THE SCHOOL WHICH IS FOR BOYS IN NEED OF CARE. IT WAS FOUNDED IN 1959 WHEN IT HAD 14 BOYS NOW IT HAS 99.

    MR. CHIWANDA SAID THAT THE MPEMBA BOYS HOME WAS ONE OF TWO SCHOOLS IN MALAWI AIMING TO MOULD YOUNGSTERS WHO HAD FOUND THEMSELVES IN TROUBLE INTO BECOMING BETTER AND MORE RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS. SUCH WAS THE SUCCESS OF THE SCHOOL, SAID MR. CHIWANDA, THAT NO BOY WHO HAD PASSED THROUGH IT HAD EVER BECOME A HARDENED CRIMINAL.
