Background: Four days after their arrival in this country, David Oistrakh and his son Igor gave a concert at London's Festival Hall Feb 18. The audience of over 3,000 applauded again and again as the Russian violinists ended their performance.
Supported by the English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Colin Davis, and led by Emanuel Hurwitz, they played Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G; Concerto for Violin in E; Trio Sonata in C accompanied by Raymond Leppard on the Harpsichord; Concerto for Violin in A minor; and Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor.
Continuing their three-week tour of British concert halls, they go to Oxford University rebuilding fund, and on Mar 2 they appear with the Halle Orchestra in Manchester.
