    France--President Charles De Gaulle demonstrated France's determined to produce an independent H-Bomb by a secrecy-shrouded visit to two of France's top atom is centres on the first day of his provincial tour which started on September 24th. He first toured the Pierrelatte Atomic Centre, a 60 acre compound of four plants, and then went to the Cadarache Centre for nuclear engines.

    De Gaulle and his party flew to Orange abroad a special Caravelle flight and then boarded four helicopter for the trip to Pierrelatte. He was protected by extraordinary security precaution members of the press corps were barred form entering Pierrllate. While the President toured the installations clad in a white monkey-suit. De Gaulle followed up his tour of the plants, where enriched Uranium, will shortly be produced,by a conference with Robert Hirsch, General Administrator of the France Atomic Energy Commission (CEA).

    Later the French President again took his helicopter for a visit to Cadarache where he saw the prototype of the first French nuclear-powered submarine due to be launched nest year. Once again the press were barred.

    De Gaulle spent the night at Cadarache preparation to touring the Avignon region on the second day of the six-day provincial round.
