    A GROUP OF YOUNG MEN FROM THE COMMONWEALTH WERE AMONG THE NEW OFFICERS AT THE COMMISSIONING PARADE AT MONS OFFICER CADET SCHOOL AT ALDERSHOT IN ENGLAND TODAY.

    THERE WERE NEW OFFICERS FOR THE ARMED FORCES OF SIERRA LEONE, TANZANIA, UGANDA AND ZAMBIA AMONG THEM WHEN THE INSPECTING OFFICER, GENERAL SIR JAMES CASSELS, CHIEF OF THE GENERAL STAFF, ARRIVED TO TAKE THE SALUTE AT THE COMMISSIONING PARADE.

    TANZANIA WAS REPRESENTED AT THE TRAINING COURSE BY OFFICER CADETS ALBERT FRISCH AND S.A. HIMBA. FROM UGANDA THERE WAS OFFICER CADET ODONGO-LIWACHI, FROM ZAMBIA OFFICER CADET NG'ANDU, FROM SIERRA LEONE OFFICER CADET SAMUEL NORMAN AND FROM MALTA OFFICER CADET CASSER TORREGGIANI.

    THE SENIOR UNDER-OFFICER WHO RECEIVED THE SILVER-MOUNTED OFFICER'S CANE WAS D.R. MILES, THE SON OF MR JUSTICE B.R. MILES OF KENYA. HE WAS EDUCATED AT KENTON COLLEGE IN KENYA, AND WILL JOIN THE ROYAL REGIMENT OF ARTILLERY.
