    Crown Prince Akihito of Japan and his wife Princess Michiko began their ten dy stay in Britain on Tuesday. They flew to Britain from Yugoslavia where they made their first official visit to a Communist country.

    SYNOPSIS: On the last full day of their three day Yugoslavian tour the people of Ljubljana, in the mountainous north-west of the country had a chance to see the Japanese royal couple. The Crown Prince and Princess tasted the food and wines to the area -- the People's Republic of Slovenia, They had been invited to Yugoslavia by President Tito. They arrived in the capital Belgrade on Saturday and travelled to Ljubljana from the southern Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik where they spent the first night of their stay.

    After watching the dancers the Prince and Princess went to Bled Laek nearby and stayed the night at Villa Bled.

    On Tuesday, the Prince who is particularly interested in environmental conservation, called o a successful local framer in the nearby village of Podbrezje. The royal couple then left for the United Kingdom from Ljubljana airport.

    Their stay in Britain is not a state visit and there was no salute of guns on their arrival at London airport, but the Crown Prince and Princess will spend three days at Windsor Castle as the guests of Britain's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. The Japanese couple will be together for most of their tour but they have picked several places for separate visits.

    Crown Prince Akihito who is interested in fish as well as the environment has chosen to visit Britain's biggest sewage treatment plant on the River Thames. The British government has spent millions of pounds making the Thames less polluted and fish can once more be caught in London.

    Princess Michiko has arranged to see the grave of Thomas Gray, an 18th century poet and the couple will together visit the headquarters of the Red Cross and a Welsh colamine during heir stay.
