Background: The latest London spring collection of hats will be shown to the trade tomorrow (10 November), but Visnews was allowed a special preview of the creations.
The hats worn in the show were (in order): A combination of hat and muff from Wilfred Paddison. The hat has a stitched white organza crown and a deep petticoat brim of ostrich fronds tipped with guinea-fowl feathers.
"Sweetheart Brim" from Edward Mann in Azure blue fine wool felt, with the new fashion accessory the hand crocheted shawl.
From Gina Davies, the most glamorous version of her turban for 1971. It is in gleaming white Racine Jersey with a coiled cuff stitched with silver thread. The silver stitching is repeated on the end of the scarf drape.
From Dolores, a Cure named Padua in the lacquered look. It is in sand dune colouring and has a shiny black waistband with a very original black and white front trimming.
A hat called "Vintage Rolls" is from McCracken and Bowen: a large and shady hat in swathed silk chiffon of a colour which the designer has called Cassis creme.
From the feather specialist Paddison, a charming combination of hat and bolero in Crocus swan feathers outlined with gold braid and blue pearls. A cage of gilt veiling adds a piquant touch to this cocktail ensemble.
A stitched silk organza with a lovely new version of the chin strap from Mitzi Lorenz.
A white organza picture hat with a brim covered in magnolia flowers by Bermona completes the collection.
