Background: Sixteen-year-old Buddy Newchurch, an Aborigine from Whyalla ....320 miles north of Adelaide, South Australia....has had a work-out with the Chelsea Football Club's junior squad. He arrived in London on Sunday (25th July) for three months' training with the club, having been brought to the attention of Chelsea's Assistant-Manager, Mr. Ron Stuart, earlier this year during an Australian tour. Buddy had been spotted by Mr. Charles Perkins, himself an Aborigine, who played football in Britain ten years ago. The money for Buddy's trip was raised by subscription among the Whyalla townsfolk. If he comes up to expectations he will play for the chelsea Junior side. His home team was Croatia.

At Mitcham training grounds Buddy Newchurch and Mr. Ron Stuart were interviewed by VISNEWS reporter Rick Jemison.
