  • Description

The London constitution talks on Zimbabwe Rhodesia have reached their fourth week with a row over the way the conference is being organised. The Patriotic Front say they are unhappy about the fact that the British Government had meetings with the Salisbury delegation from which they were excluded. On Tuesday (2 October) afternoon the first meeting for two weeks of all three parties was held at Lancaster House, but it ended abruptly when the Patriotic Front made their protest and walked out. The Patriotic Front is suspicious that a secret deal may be struck between Britain and Bishop Abel Muzorewa's government.

SYNOPSIS: At a news conference, the leaders of the Patriotic Front, robert Mugabe and later Joshua Nkomo explained their reasons for walking out of the conference.
