IAN ROBERTSON, THEN NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE ANTI-APARTHEID NATIONAL UNION OF SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS (NUSAS).

    THE 21-YEAR-OLD MR. ROBERTSON WAS BANNED FOR FIVE YEARS UNDER THE SUPPRESSION OF COMMUNISM ACT SHORTLY BEFORE HE WAS DUE TO ACT AS HOST TO THE VISITING UNITED STATES SENATOR, ROBERT KENNEDY, A BROTHER OF THE LATE PRESIDENT KENNEDY AND REGARDED AS A LIBERAL.

    A SIMILAR DEMONSTRATION WAS HELD IN CAPE TOWN.
