    USHIBA: "That is very bad misunderstanding. They have done everything possible to come to an agreement with the community in the last negotiations and (indistinct) satisfy you 100 per cent, but I think it will come to a very good compromise here as the summit in Copenhagen said this is certainly the first step in the right direction. So we are ready to and I know that (indistinct) meeting, something like that. So real results, we will do everything possible to do so."

    SYNOPSIS: On Monday (10 April) representatives of the three leading trade partners engaged in the Tokyo round of negotiations met for an informal review of progress....Japan's External Economic Affairs Minister Mr. Nobuhiko Ushiba, the United States chief trade negotiator, Mr. Robert Strauss and the European Community representative, Mr. Wilhelm Haferkamp.

    Mr. Ushiba said Japan envisaged completing substantive bargaining by the end of July and it is expected that the broad outline of the final package will also be ready then. After the meeting Mr. Ushiba spoke to newsmen.
