Background: At Bangkok, Thailand, recently member nations of the South East Asia Treaty Organisation gave a visual report on the air-power progress of this newest.of mutual defence alliances.
The US Air Force showed its muscle with planes of the Tactical Air Command Strike Force. Other nations joining the review were Nationalist China, Great Britain, Australia and France, with the Thai Air Force acting as host.
An emergency adds to the excitement. A Royal Air Force 'Canberra' -with its landing gear locked in the 'up' position - is forced to make a belly-landing. A perfect job of 'foaming-in' (laying a safety carpet-cushion of foam) was executed by US ground personnel.
No one was hurt in the incident. A unique example of international co-operation. A British plane...foam from US ground trucks...Thai ambulances and French rescue helicopters standing by.
A display by Nationalist Chinese 'Thunder Tigers' climaxed this SEATO Air Progress report.
