    The conference, which ends on the first of December, was organised by the African Development Bank. The Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation
    SYNOPSIS: The promoters of more than 160 industrial projects in 23 African states gathered on Wednesday at the Hotel Ivoire in the Ivory Coast capital, Abidjan, to discuss industrial development projects in Africa with potential investors in the developed world.

    Ivory Coast Planning Minister Mohamed Diawara presided at this, the Third African Conference for the Promotion of Industrial Projects, organised by the African Development Bank, the Economic Commission for Africa, and the Awned Nations Industrial Development Organisation. In his opening speech, Mr. Diawara welcomed to the meeting participants from such distant countries as Australia and Japan, joining the more traditional investors in Africa from Europe and the United States. Mr. Diawara said their presence was a sign of the new interest being taken by such countries in African development.

    Mr. A. Labidi on behalf of the african Development Bank reported Development Bank reported on the progress made in setting up an African Development Fund, with the help of capital-exporting countries, whose lending terms will be much ??? then is new possible. The Fund is expected to be operating by early 1973. Mr. F. Le Guay for the U. N. said the World Body had a role to play in promoting industrial development in Africa, acting as an intermediary between the industrialised and the developing worlds
