  • Description

President Kennedy visited former President Herbert Hoover and General Douglas MacArthur separately April 28 in their suites in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

What was discussed was not announced, but Kennedy presumably briefed them on the administration's information on world trouble spots.

The conferences were described as an extension of those Kennedy held previously with Former President Eisenhower, Former Vice Pres. Nixon, New York Gov. Rockefeller and Sen. Goldwater. The not effect was to emphasize to the Communist block that U.S. political differences end at the nation's boundaries.

Kennedy first spent 20 minutes with Hoover in his 31st floor suite in the Waldorf Towers.

Then Kennedy took an elevator to MacArthur's 37th floor suite. The President and MacArthur talked privately for almost an hour.
