  • Description

The first trade mission from Hong Kong to visit the Ivory Coast held their first conference with their hosts on Tuesday (29 May).

The eighteen-strong mission had arrived the day before to begin a five-day visit. They brought with them a selection of electrical and domestic goods manufactured in Hong Kong.

At the end of the first day's meeting, Ivory Coast spokesmen announced that the delegation had shown considerable interest in the African country's primary products, such as coffee, cocoa and wood.

Trade between the two countries runs at the moment at about 800,000 pounds sterling (two million USD) a year, and the trade mission hopes to greatly increase this figure.

After leaving the Ivory Coast, the trade mission will go on the Kenya, Nigeria and Libya.
