  • Description

The annual conference in Dublin of the ruling party of the Irish Republic, Fianna Fail, was interrupted throughout by critics of the Prime Minister, Mr. Jack Lynch. When the Prime Minister was able to begin his speech, he emphasised that the tension separating the two parts of Ireland did not reflect the wishes of the majority of the population, but was the results of the tactics of a few "rankling bigot, bully boys with the tar and feathers". This was an apparent allusion to the opposing religious groups in Northern Ireland, the Protestants and the Catholics.
