  • Description

President Sir Seretse Khama of Botswana stopped over in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, on Saturday (23 November), for a 30-minute talk with Zambian officials before going to Zaire to discuss the problems in Angola.

This was Sir Seretse's second visit to Lusaka in a month. He spent a weekend in early November for talks with three other African heads of state and leaders of African Nationalist groups.

The talks centred on the situation in Southern Africa and a government spokesman announced in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, that they were purely a "routine consultation".

King Moshoeshoe 11 of Lesotho, who arrived in Zaire on Friday, was also present at the talks which were attended by President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania and President Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia.

The President of the Frelimo Nationalist Movement and the President of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola, were also at the discussions.
