Background: Togbui Delume, the Paramount Chief of Ghana's Volta Region called for government action on a still uncompleted farming complex when he opened a durbar festival at Ve Golokwati on Saturday. (6 December).
In turn, the new regional commissioner, Major G.K.Amevore, making his first visit to the festival, pledged action on many important issues in the country's five year plan.
Major Amevore also urged the people to join the government's communal labour programme so that the government could come to their aid. He pledged that the government would provide clean drinking water and electricity and build more roads in the region.
Paramount Chief Togbui Delume had criticised the government in his speech for the "unfortunate reflection" of its drive by not taking action on the farming complex.
The first stage of the complex has been completed ... However, the second phase including dormitories, work shops, laboratories, machinery and equipment still hasn't started building.
The complex forms part of the region's Reliance and Operation Feed Yourself Programme.
