The Vice-President's tour also included Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. In Iran, he was received by the Shah.

Background: Egyptian Vice-President Hosni Mubarak visited the Jordanian capital of Amman on Wednesday (5 October) for talks with King Hussein at the conclusion of a tour of several Arab states and Iran.
SYNOPSIS: During a visit lasting only a few hours, Mr. Mubarak went to see King Hussein at the Rasman Palace in Amman to deliver a message from Egyptian President Anwar Sadat on the latest developments in the Middle East.
Mr. Mubarak undertook the tour in an attempt to coordinate Arab reaction to joint Soviet-American call for a reconvened Middle-East peace conference by December and protection of the rights of Palestinians in any peace settlement. He also explained the position of his own country. The egyptian Foreign Ministry has reiterated its view that the Palestine Liberation Organisation should be represented at any reconvened conference.
