    Background: The government of Japan and Indian signed notes in the Indian Finance Ministry, New Delhi, on Saturday (30th March) agreeing on a Japanese loan to India of Yen 11,000 million.

    The notes were exchanged between Ambassador of Japan to India H.E. Kinya Niiseki and Department of Economic Affairs, Indian Finance Ministry Mr M.G. Kaul.

    The Yen Credit will be used to finance large a fertiliser project using a great proportion of Japanese capital equipment and will be repayable over 25 years.

    Japan has now contributed over 308,90 billion Yen to India since 1958.
