  • Description

At the Republican Convention in Chicago, July 28, Henry Cabot Lodge, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, was nominated the Republican Party candidate for Vice-President. Ambassador Lodge's nomination followed the selection of Vice-President Nixon for the Presidential spot.

Although the Presidential campaign will soon be in full swing candidate Lodge will remain at the United Nations for several months, due to the importance of work he is engaged in at present.

Only one candidate was put to the Convention for the Vice-Presidential nomination, addressing the convention his proposer said
Like Democratic Presidential nominee, Senator John Kennedy, Lodge comes from the State of Massachusetts. In an earlier contest for a seat in the Senate, Kennedy defeated Lodge. Asked to comment on this Lodge said "these things are mysteries, they change every few years."
