    LOW-FLYING MILITARY AIRCRAFT ON FEBRUARY 21, "BOMBED THREE BRITISH AIR BASES AND A NAVAL BASE IN SINGAPORE, BUT FEW PEOPLE IN THE CITY KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE REASON - THE EXERCISE TO TEST SINGAPORE'S AIR DEFENCE WAS CARRIED OUT OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS."
    SOME TWENTY-FIVE AIRCRAFT - THE FAR EAST AIR FORCE'S CANBERRAS AND METEORS AND THE ROYAL NAVY'S SEA VIXENS - TOOK PART IN THE EXERCISE.

    ALL AIRCRAFT FLEW AT MINIMUM HEIGHTS OF ONE THOUSAND FEET UNTIL WITHIN THREE MILES OF THEIR TARGETS WHEN THEY SWOOPED DOWN TO A MERE TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FEET.

    MEANWHILE IN KUANTAN, ON THE EAST COAST OF MALAYA, COMMONWEALTH TROOPS ARE IN THE SECOND PHASE OF THEIR SEVEN-DAY JUNGLE EXERCISE CALLED THE "FLYING KIWI".

    AN ARGOSY AIRCRAFT BELONGING TO THE 215 SQUADRON OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE BROUGHT IN MORE TROOPS AND SUPPLIES FROM SINGAPORE.

    HELICOPTER ARE BEEN USED TO TRANSPORT TROOPS QUICKLY TO HE FORWARD AREAS. TONS OF SUPPLIES ARE AIR-DROPPED INT EH BRIGADE AREA BY THE ROYAL AIR FORCE ARGOSY SQUADRON.

    THE EXERCISE IS DESIGNED TO FAMILIARIZE A NEW ZEALAND BATTALION AND OTHER MINOR COMMONWEALTH UNITS WITH QUICK DEPLOYMENT BY AIR.
