• Short Summary

A South Australian, Mr. Steve Peake of Elizabeth, has invented a type of water ski?

  • Description

A South Australian, Mr. Steve Peake of Elizabeth, has invented a type of water ski which is powered by a small outboard motor. Mr. Peake - seen demonstrating it near Snowden's Beach - claims it's the only one of its kind in the world.

Unlike conventional water skiing, little experience is necessary. It can be controlled by leaning from one side to the other; and it provides all the thrills of skilful skiing. Mr. Val Hadland of Elizabeth shows how easy it is for the novice.

It is advisable to use the tiller until the skier finds the right balance. Depending on the type of motor, the speed can be as high as thirty miles an hour.

Navigation is so simple and relaxing, and after a little while...well, simplicity comes with experience. The unit is a cross between water skis and a raft and is expected to become yet another popular sport in Australian waters.
