Background: A delegation from Dahomey, headed by Mr. Justice Ahomadegbe Tometin, a member of the country's Presidential Council, has arrived in Brussels for talks with the European Development Fund. The delegation is attempting to gain finance for a number of social projects. The Dahomey Government wants to put more money into the country's agricultural industry, social services, public health and education system.
SYNOPSIS: A delegation from Dahomey, led by Mr. Justin Ahomadegbe Tometin, a member of the Presidential Council, is in Brussels for talks with the European Development Fund. Dahomey is seeking money to finance project to increase the country's agricultural industry, social services, public health and education system.
Mr. Ahomadegbe was met at Parliament House by the President of the Fund, Mr. Malfati. The two men began discussions straight away Dahomey has contributed a total of more than 54 million dollars to the Development Fund since its inception in 1959. The fund provide development aid of 748 million dollars in grants, 80 million dollars in special low interest loans and 90 million dollars in European Investment Bank loans for its members of which there are 18 in Africa.
