  • Description

The army-backed leadership of Greece today (Friday) celebrated to official name-day of the self-exiled King Constantine. In Athens, the Regent, General George Zoetakis, led members of the cabinet, church and army leaders at a service of thanksgiving at the Cathedral. It's the fourth time the name-day has been celebrated since the King fled from the country. But prospects for his return to Greece show little sign of improving.

SYNOPSIS: At Athens Cathedral, a thanksgiving service marked the name-day of King Costantine, still in self-imposed exile in Italy. The Regent, General George Zoetakis, led members of the cabinet, together with church and army leaders at the service. It's the fourth time that the day has been observed by the Greek army-backed government since King Constantine fled the country.

Despite the celebrations, the relations between the King and the government are still believed to be strained, ruling out any possibility of King Constantine's early return to the country. The pro-government press has attacked the king for failing to denounce the use of bombs as a means of action against the government, following a recent series of explosions in Athens.
