Background: Two ceremonies marked the official observance of United Nations Day in Force on October 25. One was a military parade of honour and glory in the capital and the other a simple prayer meeting of remembrance at the United Nations military cemetery at Pusan.
Contingents of U.N. and South Korean troops marched through Seoul tot he National Stadium where members of the Republic of Korea Government and officials of various U.N. organizations performed the official ceremony.
In the heavy silence of Pusan cemetery U.N. troops formed a guard of honour as the South Korean Minister, Kim Jung Yul, and the U.N. Commander in Korea, General Decker, officiated. Relative of the fallen walked through the vast field of crosses and crescents -the latter marking the graven of Turkish Servicemen - remembering lost ones and offering silent prayers.
