Background: A group of Members of Parliament from West Germany is now on tour in Kenya. On Thursday (March 23rd), the visitors were received by the Speaker of the Kenya National Assembly, Mr. Mati, at the Parliament building in Nairobi.
The visit follows one earlier this month by an official West German delegation. That led to an agreement or west Germany to help finance various irrigation, town water supply, and vocational training schemes in Kenya. The Danish Foreign Minister has also been in Kenya recently discussing aid for development plans.
SYNOPSIS: A group of West German politicians who are now touring Kenya went to the Parliament building in Nairobi on Thursday, to be received by the Speaker of the Kenya National assembly, Mr. Mati. The West German party included a woman member, Mrs. Diemer Nikolang.
West Germany's Ambassador to Kenya, Mr. Rufus, was also at the meeting. The Parliamentary group was led by Mr. Georg Keiesing.
Their visit followed one earlier this month by an official West German delegation. That led to an agreement for West Germany to help Kenya with various irrigation, town water and vocational training schemes.
The German Members of Parliament spent about an hour at the Parliament building with Mr. Mati. They will be going back home to Germany on Monday.
