  • Description

Baron Jean van den Bosch - the Belgian Ambassador to the Congo, who was expelled by order of the Lumumba Government - arrived in Brussels, Aug 11, to be received by his family and official representatives including M. Wigny, the Belgian Foreign Minister.

Congoleze troops were sent to the Belgian Embassy in Leopoldville, Aug 9, to ensure, by force if necessary, that M. van den Bosch left the Congo within hours. United Nations soldiers escorted the Ambassador to the French Embassy, which will be looking after Belgian interests in the Congolese capital. Later the same day he crossed the Congo River to Brazzaville, before returning by air to Brussels via Nice where he was met by his wife.
