    THE YUGOSLAV TEAM WHICH WAS PLACED SECOND, PLAYED WELL BELOW ITS CAPABILITY AND LOST MANY CHANCES RIGHT UNDER THE NET.

    THE SOVIET UNION TEAM SHOWED GREATER EXPERIENCE AND SPEED WHICH CLINCHED THE MATCH.

    CZECHOSLOVAKIA CAME THIRD AFTER A CLOSE BATTLE WITH POLAND WHICH WAS UNDECIDED UNTIL LAST FEW SECONDS WHEN CZECHOSLOVAKIA SCORED TWO VITAL POINTS TO WIN 77 - 75. SPAIN CAME 5TH AFTER A SURPRISE WIN OVER ITALY (71-66). THIS WAS THE BEST SPAIN HAS EVER DONE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.

    HALF TIME SCORE IN THE RUSSIAN-YUGOSLAVIA MATCH WAS 41 - 33.
