Dispersion of Negroes in Greenwood, Mississippi in their attempts to register and vote. 39 were confronted with a roadblock today, then permitted to register after they broke up into smaller groups. It was third successive day of Negro attempts to register. Police, using dogs, broke up attempts to register on Wednesday and Thursday. Today's march was orderly, with no singing or chanting as in previous efforts. Negroes are making an intensive effort to register in Greenwood, and there has been violence in the past, with at least one negro wounded by gunfire and the Negro registration drive headquarters being burned.
