    TWELVE STUDENTS FROM AFRICA WERE AMONG THE GUESTS OF HONOUR AT A DINNER IN JERUSALEM ON SUNDAY. THEY AND SIX OTHERS FROM NEPAL, CYPRUS AND GUYANA, HAVE RECENTLY COMPLETED A SIX YEAR MEDICAL COURSE AT THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY-HADASSAH MEDICAL SCHOOL.

    THE DINNER, HOSTED BY THE MEDICAL SCHOOL AND THE ISRAELI MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, WAS HELD AT THE KING DAVID HOTEL. AMONG THE SPEAKERS WERE THE DEAN OF THE SCHOOL, PROFESSOR MAGNES AND THE LIBERIAN AMBASSADOR, DR. ERNEST JEROME YANCY, DEAN OF THE DIPLOMATIC CORPS. HECTOR ADDO OF GHANA, THE HONOUR STUDENT, SPOKE FOR THE GUESTS OF HONOUR.

    THE CLIMAX TO THE CEREMONIES WAS THE PRESENTATION OF AWARDS TO MR. ADDO, ANOTHER GHANAIAN, ALBERT TIMPO, AND MRS. OLUYEMISI FASAWE OF NIGERIA.

    THE ISRAELI MEDICAL COURSE WAS SET UP in 1961 BY THE FOREIGN MINISTRY AND THE MEDICAL SCHOOL IN CO-OPERATION WITH THE UNITED NATIONS WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION. SO FAR, 47 STUDENTS HAVE GRADUATED AND AMONG THE OTHER GUESTS AT THE DINNER WERE 13 FORMER STUDENTS WHO HAVE JUST COMPLETED THEIR FIRST YEAR OF INTERNSHIP AT HOSPITALS IN ISRAEL. THE INTERNS, NINE FROM AFRICA AND FOUR FROM CYPRUS, WILL RECEIVE THE DIPLOMAS AND RETURN HOME WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.
