Background: The game between Finland and Poland become the 25th match of the 1973 world hockey championship currently on in Moscow.

Victory in the match could fetch that Finns a place, provided they will have won against Czechoslovakia and Sweden.

However, the rivals' performance looked rather like a training session that a championship duel. the hockey buffs just witnessed a rather dull game devoid of excitement, clashes or bright combinations.

In the 12th minute Finland scored the first goal.

It was done by Kuusito assisted by Tamminen.

The second period proved to be as dull as the first one. A blunder by Finnish defenders cost them a goal. after their goal-keeper remained face to face with a Polish forward.

The third period being the decisive one saw more stiff action with Finns striving to win and Poles to retain the score.

The match judged by U. Dalberg (Sweden) and A. Zakharov (the USSR) ended in a I-I draw.
