  • Description

There is a growing movement in the United States for public displays of support of the Johnson Administration's Vietnam policy to counter the anti-war and anti-draft marches and protests of last weekend.

At Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, 350 students held a rally Thursday (20 October) to disapprove of civil disobedience as a means of protest. The Yale men signed a petition saying they may disagree about the war, but adding that any such disagreement should not be expressed in such a way that might endanger American soldiers or encourage their enemies.

The Yale students also announced a demonstration next Sunday (24 October) at which Yale would be linked with 29 other college campuses by telephone circuits for an exchange of speakers. The sponsors estimate that 25 thousand students will participate in these rallies to counter last weekend's demonstrations against U.S. policy in Vietnam.
