SYNOPSIS: A group of diplomats from the Chinese People's Republic arrived in Ankara on Friday to open their country's new embassy in Turkey. Foreign Ministry officials went to the airport to welcome them.

It was in August last year that Turkey and the People's Republic agreed to open full diplomatic relations. The Chinese delegation had come to prepare the way for an exchange of ambassadors.

A three-man Turkish delegation headed by Mr. Necat Aydin, a senior official of the Foreign Ministry's political planning department, left for Peking a week ago on a similar mission. They were expected to stay about two weeks. The Chinese delegation was headed by Mr. Hsia Hung, with the rank of counsellor. Also in the group were an advisor, second and third secretaries, an attache and an administrative officer. Most of their visit will be taken up by talks with Turkish officials.
